Here, we aim to spotlight some popular favorites from our Jewish delicatessen and describe their ties to tradition as well as how they’re prepared, so you can rest assured you’re bringing quality to the table when you choose Brent’s Deli.
Roast Beef
Truth be told, roast beef is one of the world’s healthiest meat options. If carefully prepared, roast beef can be extra delicious without the guilt since there are no fat or oils added during its preparation. From fire drying the meat with wood to modern means that utilize electric cookers and ovens, roast beef has remained a staple of Jewish delicatessens over the years due to its nutritious value and the tasty sandwiches they make.
At Brent’s Deli, all of our roast beef is prepared from the highest quality of meat. We choose organic and natural beef from grass-fed cattle to ensure nothing but the best for your homemade sandwiches and meals.
Roasted Turkey
All over the world, roasted turkey is considered an everyday cold cut lunch meat as well as a festive holiday delicacy. At Brent’s Deli, we provide kosher turkey that’s been slow roasted to perfection and hand-sliced straight from the frame. For turkey sandwiches, request thinner slices, while thicker cuts are perfect for a home cooked turkey dinner.
Keep in mind that our oven roasted turkey is not just a healthy choice when it comes to deli meat, it’s also Passover-approved. We’re proud to serve as a full-service Jewish delicatessen in Northridge and Westlake Village where we offer additional turkey products such as: turkey pastrami, turkey bacon, and turkey sausage–all available per half a pound.
Corned Beef
This particular deli meat has its roots in tradition ever since European Jews immigrated to the United States and opened up family-owned delicatessens in New York City. Corned beef starts out as brisket, which is brined for at least three weeks, steamed until perfectly tender, and then thinly sliced to be piled high onto mouthwatering sandwiches. Known for its dry-salted taste, corned beef remains a popular staple at any deli.
Although on the West Coast, Brent’s Deli prepares this favorite the old-fashioned way, ensuring each batch is house-cured and hand-sliced. Enjoy our corned beef on rye bread with delectable deli mustard and crispy latkes on the side. Bring a bit of Jewish tradition to the comfort of your home–from our family to yours!
Pastrami
Originating from Romania, pastrami is a type of cured beef or turkey that’s considered the quintessential Jewish deli meat brought to the U.S. by European immigrants. At Brent’s Deli, we give Sussman Volk a run for his money, preparing our pastrami the traditional way for modern food lovers and sandwich eaters.
Our pastrami is brined and then seasoned with a host of tasty spices including garlic, black pepper, coriander, paprika, cloves, mustard seed, and allspice. To reach full flavor potential, the meat is smoked and then steamed, so it practically melts in your mouth. Available per half pound, enjoy Jewish-style pastrami from Brent’s Deli on hot or cold sandwiches with a Dr. Brown’s soda to wash down this savory classic.
Brisket
Did you know that brisket is one of the nine most common beef primal cuts prepared at delicatessens across all cultures and regions? In the Jewish tradition, brisket is typically braised for a main course pot roast on major holidays such as Rosh Hashanah, Passover, and the Sabbath.
At Brent’s Deli, we make sure all of our brisket is smoked and slow-cooked to perfection, so you can share this tender and tasty delicacy with your family on hot sandwiches, in home cooked dinners, and for backyard barbecues. We are proud to serve such a quality comforting classic to Northridge, Westlake Village, and surrounding communities!
Hand-Cut Lox
Besides providing classic cuts of your deli favorites, Brent’s Deli also specializes in slicing select varieties of fish. Among our seafood options, is premium lox which remains popular for brunch and on special holidays like Yom Kippur–in which our restaurant will serve 260 sides of smoked salmons to hungry patrons.
All of our lox is precisely hand-sliced by our skilled restaurant and delicatessen staff, and we offer Nova, a quality option that is less salty than your typical lox. Enjoy our premium salmon from home on bagels–complete with a creamy spread and capers. We also provide lox mix, chopped lox, lox collars, and lox wings, so you can enjoy this delicacy in the variety of your choice!
